Linen Closet Envy…

March 4, 2010

I am going to need you feel my pain for just a bit: I have no linen closets.

I kid you not. I have no one location for bath towels, pillows, sheets, extra blankets, or beach towels to call home. I don’t have a closet any of our bathrooms or hallways.  You should be getting that feeling when you get a new pretty shirt and go to hang it in your closet but don’t have any hangers, except now imagine that, oh wait, YOU HAVE NO CLOSET.

Laundry day makes me want to jump out of a window, and having guests come takes an full fledged scavenger hunt to find everything we need to make said guest comfortable (note: we still love guests, don’t feel like I am complaining about visitor’s, just not being able to be prepared).

We currently keep pillows, the air mattress w/ pump and large comforters under our bed. We also keep little college type “under the bed roll-away” storage units under our bed for random pillow cases and spare sheets. Beach towels are in the office closet, near Albie’s guitars are the spare blankets, and in the laundry area are our extra bath towels. Under our master bathroom sink is enough organization to make the folks at Space Savers blush. The guests bath is strictly for cleaning products.

And yes, this system works for now, but it definitely has limits outside of things being scattered around the house. We only have 2 spare pillows, 1 spare comforter, and our bed only has 1 spare set of sheets changed just for laundry day. We aren’t able to collect nice bedding and an assortment of colors. We weren’t able to register for above the moon linens because we knew we would have NO WHERE TO STORE THEM.

So onto the eye candy, here are some drool worthy linen closets:

I'd be smiling like this lady too if I had her linen closet

and here are are some practical solutions for people like me, those of us who are closet challenged shall we say:

Now who wants to help me track down a cute piece of furniture, paint/ stain it to match a room in my house then organize it?

sad times, for sure. our new house will have two linen closets and a coat closet in addition to the closets in the bedrooms, so we’ll have plenty of space for linens and towels. you can come over anytime you want and take a look! ;)
