Anniversary Trip Planning…

April 2, 2010

Planning of our Key’s Anniversary trip is moving right along now that we have officially asked off work and have requested hotel rooms for our stay.

For the first couple of days of our trip we will be staying in Marathon, also known as the Grassy key, and we decided on the Gulf View Waterfront Resort:

It is a family run place that seems to be within walking distance to a lot of cool things on Marathon. They have grills and refrigerators for each room along with free kayaks ( do i know how to do that?) and hammocks.

Marathon is where we plan to relax, get sun, snorkel and be lazy with Finley. This is the key that Albie went to with his Dad when he was younger and swears the locals are after his own heart. So tour guide Albie will surely know the best places to get out in the water and wander around town. We are excited that our room will have a  grill and a kitchenette so we can truly just take it easy.

About mid week we will then pack up and head to Key West for a few nights and we have booked a really nice room at Old Town Manor.

While in Key west we plan to do all the regular touristy things: check out the Southern Most point, Earnest Hemingway’s House and his crazy cats, possibly the aquarium since I am a dork etc…

On our way home we will be stopping in Charleston for a night and based off of  one of my favorite Travel websites, BringFido.com, we have actually booked a room at the downtown Best Western. Cheesy I know, but it seems to have a great location, great price and even more importantly, they seem to be excited that Finley will be with us!

While in Charleston we will try to fit in a tour/ carriage ride of some kind along with some yummy food. Only staying one night kinda sucks but we are looking forward to having such a beautiful halfway point on the way home!

Next month can’t come soon enough! We are excited to celebrate our first year with such a fun trip. I hope we are lucky enough to do something like this every year!

Restaurants/ Things to do for both the Keys and Charleston recommendations are needed and appreciated!!
