Why I Think We Eat Too Much…

December 16, 2010

This week getting the mail has been super fun.

I have moved a lot of our bills to being paperless so I don’t dread the mailbox any more AND it’s Christmas card time! On average we get about 2 or 3 a day but the other day I was quite surprised to receive this one:

In case you missed that or can’t read it due to crappy cell phone picture, that is a Christmas card from OUR GROCERY STORE.

And as if that’s not enough, we found out through a friend that works at this particular chain of stores – that the only customers that recived these cards were the top 100 at each store.

Somehow, between the TWO of us and Finley we rank somewhere in annual spending at the grocery store enough to warrant a holiday card! I went from thinking our card was a nice gesture to thinking “omg we’re fat asses” and “omg could we spend more money on food?!”

We do meal plan every week and that includes about 5 meals, 1 night for date night and then a leftovers night. We always half recipes and I use our rewards card every time. We started buy things like dog food, paper towels etc from Target and I try to buy my wine from Total Wine. But apparently we still rank above the grocery shopping amounts for people that live the giant houses with actual big families!

Moral of the story here? Don’t always use your rewards card, apparently they track your every move down the aisles  to get those chips for the tailgate you forgot or grab that bottle of wine on your way home work.

New years resolution ideas will also now include: eat less or coupon more. sigh.
