Moving Day #1…

March 17, 2011

Since coming to terms with a listing price and  choosing a Realtor was done we’ve moved into the staging, de-cluttering, and packing process. We worked on it most days after work and finally packed up a UHaul last weekend.

We started with the down stairs coat closet, the drawers in the entertainment center, the hutch in the dining room. We moved into the guest room and emptied the closet, under the bathroom sink, and the book case. We cleaned out the attic, the outside storage space and under our bed. Then we put it all in the dining room:

Finley wasn’t too fond of all this, so he spent most of the weekend sleeping upstairs away from the commotion and changes. He did come down stairs to check things out:

My Brother even came over to help us move! He brought his new scruffy beard and Eagle Scout know how too!

After a while we were packed and ready to go.

Albie had some pre-trip jitters that are completely understandable – after driving around in a tiny 2 seater convertible all year, the idea of driving a box truck with most of our earthly possessions at 70 miles an hour seemed daunting. So we slept on our nerves with our belongings out front and waited to leave until 6 am Sunday morning.

I followed that truck right into the sunrise. It was my job to “bandit” for him; as in – he would turn on his turn signal to switch lanes so I would quickly get over first and hold the lane open for him. I’m not saying that I’m the best at doing this, but I think there could definitely be a future in it if this new position doesn’t work out for me ;)

We arrived in Wilmington, unloaded the truck, set up Squirtle in his new digs and even returned the truck all before 11 am.

Back home again...

It’s amazing how fast we got it all done and before we knew it we were headed back to Raleigh. Back to head into my last week of work and a house that needed a deep cleaning.

In addition to our fraidy cat Rottweiler, I hope you enjoy the picture of my prize collectible Batman and Star Wars legos.
