2011 Spring Game…

April 20, 2011

This past weekend I went to Raleigh where I was treated with a weekend with Albie, a chance to say good bye to my old student group that I helped manage and see my old student assistants (who are now my friends!), and as if that’s not enough, I was even treated to some Spring Football.

I started the day at 10 am like this:

but obviously with a lot of this:

But then it started to do a bit of this:

But we lucked out it didn’t do a whole lot of that. God loves football after all, he didn’t want to ruin our only taste until the Fall! I think he also knew it was my only chance to catch up with some fun girls until they decide to come visit me at the beach!

Ashley & Ashlee! Open your eyes next time!

And yes I did in fact dress like a bum. I also did not wear make-up. This was my protest of YEARS of not being able to roll out to football games in t-shirts like other lazy students. It was fabulous and led to an awesome post game napping outfit as well.

The Spring Game every year is our chance to see our new players, watch the final spring practice of the year and for NC State it’s our chance to raise some  money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Coach Yow was our Women’s Basketball coach for 32 years and lost her battle to breast cancer in 2009.  So each year, our spring football game gives the field a touch of pink and we raise a little money:

This year our game raised over $15,000 and we had record attendance. (Go Wolfpack!)

In other news, this was my first time back to my old employer since leaving and the best way I could describe it is that it felt like I was visiting an ex-boyfriend that I broke up with. And kinda miss.

It was hard, I wont lie and say I didn’t cry a few times (it’s a new hobby of mine) but I made it through the game. The wine helped a lot of course. And seeing some of my favorite girls also helped – duh!

Fun! That fried chicken looks pretty amazing right now. The wine sounds great to, although I have a particularly bad memory of those little Sutter Home bottles ;)

In the picture of three girls (you’re on the left) the girl in the middle could be your twin!! I had to check back to the picture up above to make sure I knew which one you were–isn’t that weird? Anyways, I’m so glad you got to enjoy the Spring Game like a lazy bum student! :)
